Quality of Life

Students have begun critically thinking, discussing, and debating about Indicators of Quality of Life. After annotating an article on this topic, students worked collaboratively to group needs and wants of human beings. Some of the cards had things that we needed to explore and discuss as a class. For example: education, playgrounds and recreation and clean water were all items that students debated and had to really think about. It was interesting to hear the different view points!
Next, the students looked at the same items and worked independently to order their importance from greatest to least. This was a challenging task for many of the students - ask your child why this was challenging for them!
Finally, the students began working on a piece of writing explaining their reasoning. This activity is the precursor to Persuasive Writing as students begin to take an opinion and defend it to an audience.
