New Inquiry
We hope everyone has a restful and sunny Spring Break!
Also, thank you once again to all parents and students that made it out to our Celebration of Learning in March. The students and teachers were so proud to showcase their work as an architect.
As we move ahead, our new inquiry will have students learning about endangered animals through a multidisciplinary approach. The students will most specifically think critically as an Ecologist. Our junior specialized scientists will survey the land in Peru/India/Ukraine and assess the natural diversity of the area. Once we begin looking closely at the issues regarding these species, students will come to understand how many other disciplines are required to save animals, such as conservation scientist, mathematician, zoologist, marine animal rescuer, animal welfare advocate, journalist, and more.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in scientific discourse based on learning through disciplinary literacy. We will continue to use text sets of fiction/non-fiction books, articles, videos, photographs, and read-alouds to connect us with the issues. During our literacy block, students will continue using the reading strategies of annotating, questioning, inferring, connecting, visualizing, and determining the importance of the text. Students will consider our roles as global ambassadors for this very important cause.
We are very excited for the work ahead!
