Donation Impact

The grade 3 students in Ms. Craig and Ms. Gierl's class over the last few weeks have been planning and organizing ways to fundraise and donate money to the Calgary Zoo after learning about animal life cycles and endangerment through the lens of an ecologist. Through all of the amazing donations, the students raised $413.05! 

From the donations department at the zoo:

Thank you for supporting the Calgary Zoo with the ZooCare program. Our ZooCare adopt an animal program supports the care and feeding of animals at the Calgary Zoo.  By symbolically adopting a species, you are showing your love for wildlife.

Your donation helps provide exceptional care for zoo animals through providing specially designed diets and enrichment activities which provide mental and physical stimulation to encourage the same behaviors as in the wild.

Because of our donation, the students were able to choose 6 animals to symbolically adopt.  The students voted for:

• Lemur
• Panda
• Snow Leopard
• Penguin
• Red Panda
• Giraffe

The zoo is sending a certificate to our double class in the mail and we will hopefully have it by next week! The students are feeling incredibly proud of their actions, and are starting to understand that small actions do in fact make a big impact.
